Picking Up An Afterthought Heel

This fully-captioned knitting technique video tutorial demonstrates how to pick up the stitches for an afterthought heel around a scrap yarn placeholder (this approach is sometimes called a "forethought" heel). The technique is shown using two needles, and works the same way with any kind of double-pointed needles (including flexi-flips), magic loop (one long circular needle), or two circular needles. It explains how the scrap yarn is inserted, and demonstrates in detail how to pick up all the stitches, both below and above the scrap yarn, as well as how to remove the scrap yarn when all of the stitches are on the needles. It also discusses and shows several useful tips and tricks, such as how to prevent heel corner gaps.
